Your Swim School
Your Swim School offers a swimming lesson programme from babies through to adults at all of our leisure centres. With Swim England qualified instructors, our courses will provide a sound foundation for every pupil’s swimming progression into other aquatic activities whether they are competitive or recreational.
Our lead teachers are all Level 2 qualified through Swim England and we also use Level 1 assistance for specific classes.
Your Swim School follows the National Guidelines and each class is based on the Swim England National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS).
Classes are also based on continual assessment of individual children and therefore run seamlessly throughout the year enabling children to move stages at their own pace.
You can also view your progression through the 'Your Swim School Home Portal'.

Need A Little More Help?
Private swimming lessons are a good way of speeding up your child's progress and are available at each of our Centres.
Private lessons usually give fast results due to being an intense 30 minute lesson so are ideal for those wanting fast results. By having one to one lessons the student gets individual attention and can have each lesson tailored to their needs. When having two-to-one lessons it is important that the two swimmers are of a similar ability.
Another option to enhance your child's swimming are our crash courses. These are run during school holidays and offer 3-5 days of intensive lessons and can be used to improve your child's progress through the stages.
For more information on private lessons or crash courses please speak to a member of our customer service team.
Continuing Your Swimming Journey
Once your child has completed Stage 7 of Your Swim School they are ready for the next exciting steps on their swimming journey. This can take a range of options from continuing with the National Plan for Teaching Swimming (Stages 8 to 10), Personal Survival Skills or becoming part of a Swim Club.
These stages are called the FUNdamental Sport Skills of the Learn to Swim Pathway and they build on the swimming skills learned in Stages 1-7 and are designed to lead into competitive swimming. There are badges and certificates available for each stage and additional awards.
Personal Survival Skills
Personal survival skills are for those who have completed stage 7 in our programme as it advances onto further distance swimming and survival techniques. The programme covers both theory and practical elements of personal survival skills. Badges are available for this.
Your Swim School recommend Thanet Swim Club as a leading competitive and non-competitive club within the South East. They have had major success both locally and nationally, developing swimmers who have represented not only county and national levels but also internationally.
